Captain Susanna Vargas was the captain of the New York Police Department and the boss of Luke Garroway.
History[]
In 2016, her squad began investigating a series of mysterious murders, which they believe are caused by a cult or a group they have dubbed the "Demonic Murder" crew. Being on very good terms with Luke, she often tried to get him to finally propose to his long-time friend Jocelyn.[1]
When two of the people Luke was interviewing, whom everyone at the station thought had been his witnesses for the murders, turned up dead, Vargas became suspicious. Luke suggested that the killers might just be taking out their witnesses, but she was skeptical.[2]
When Internal Affairs officer Ned Fisk came to the station to investigate Luke, she tried to be supportive of Luke, asking him to just cooperate. When Clary arrived later that day with her pretend ex-boyfriend in tow, Vargas sent him away. She also told Clary that Luke's things have been confiscated and locked up in a vault a floor above them, giving Clary the information she needed. Vargas was later killed by a shape-shifting demon who took on her form to find out about the Cup. Her body was later found by Luke in a cabinet in her office.[3]

Behind the scenes[]
- Her casting side described her as a pretty, intelligent woman in her 30s who is considerably young for her job. She tries to dress down her looks, but fails. She has made allies on the force, a fact that partly aided her in getting her position, and has good relationships with the detectives, including Luke.[4]
