Renwick: Smallpox Hospital is an abandoned hospital in New York City, on an island on the East River.
History[]
Valentine Morgenstern and his followers briefly used the hospital to trick Luke Garroway and Clary Fairchild in an attempt to get ahold of the Mortal Cup. Valentine, disguised as Michael Wayland, convinced them that he was likely using Renwick as a hideout, with it being untraceable over water and its proximity to the New York Institute being strategic.
Once at Renwick, some Circle members confronted them. Luke stayed behind, and Valentine went in with Clary and Jace. Demons attacked, and Valentine asked Clary for the Cup. Thinking that he'd won, Valentine revealed himself, and it was here that he broke the false news that they were siblings to the pair. Clary herself tricked Valentine, having guessed that it was him, and gave him a fake, glamoured Cup and used the real one to dispel the demons herself. Jace, stunned by the revelation, was unable to kill Valentine, who proceeded to Portal away.
Despite the trick, Valentine did have Jocelyn kept at Renwick, allowing the others to rescue her.
