Michael Wayland is a former member of the Circle.[1]
History[]
After the Uprising, Valentine faked his and his own son's death. He took Michael's identity, using a Shape-shifting rune to lead even his son, whom he raised as Jace Wayland, to believe that his father was Michael.[2][3] Valentine once again staged his death as Michael Wayland,[4] in front of the ten-year-old Jace,[1][3] making everyone believe that he died just then.
Valentine once again used his face to trick Jace and Clary into giving him the Mortal Cup. As Michael, Valentine let himself be found in Chernobyl and then told them and Luke that he had been imprisoned and used for Valentine's experiments—specifically injected with Downworlder blood and receiving enhanced hearing and vision through it—for around a decade since he was thought to have died.[2]
