Major Arcana is the seventh episode of Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments.
Synopsis[]
THE MORTAL CUP IS WITHIN CLARY'S GRASP: Armed with the knowledge of the Mortal Cup's location, Clary and the team race to get it before anyone else.
After piecing together the clues as to where her mother hid the Mortal Cup, Clary, Jace, Alec and Isabelle are on the clock to find its hiding place before anyone else. But with demons and Downworlders lurking everywhere, obtaining the Cup may not be as easy as they had hoped.
Meanwhile, as Simon's symptoms become increasingly worse, he fears he is turning into a vampire.
Plot[]
Clary realizes her mother transformed the Mortal Cup into a drawing and hid it in a tarot card years ago. The cards were put into storage at the precinct by Luke to prevent the Circle from tracking Clary. He attempts to retrieve them, but is placed under investigation by Internal Affairs because of his recent suspicious conduct. His superior, Captain Vargas, is killed and impersonated by a demon in an effort to get to the cup.
Izzy puts forth a more professional demeanor at the Institute, and her father approves. Alec assures her that she doesn't need to change who she is just to save the family's reputation. The two siblings assist Clary and Jace in retrieving the cup, and they successfully do so. Clary extracts the cup from its drawing and uses it to repel some demons, and dispatches the one that killed Vargas after it impersonates Jace. After reuniting, Clary and Jace share a kiss.
To take his mind off Clary, Simon responds to Maureen's affections, sleeping with her. In the morning he hallucinates that Clary is in bed with him, and leaves in a fright when he realizes it's Maureen. He seriously considers the possibility that he's turning into a vampire, and seeks advice from Clary, but she's preoccupied with the cup. He reacts violently when his mother and sister express concern over his unusual behavior, and experiences increasingly vivid hallucinations of Camille goading him to find her. Out of desperation, Simon returns to the Hotel DuMort, where Camille lies in wait to kill him.

- Simon became a darkling after ingesting vampire blood, becoming increasingly paranoid that he is Turning into a vampire.
- Clary apologized to Jace for the other 10% chance that her plan could fail because she was only 90% sure, and slapped him shortly afterwards as part of her plan; this is in reference to how Jace was 90% sure that she was a Shadowhunter when they first met and that drawing a rune on her wouldn't kill her, for which Clary slapped him for the 10% chance that she could have died, from the books and from a deleted scene from The Mortal Cup.
