Lilith's apartment is the magical base of operations of Lilith and her "son", Jonathan Morgenstern.
Description[]
The apartment was enchanted by Lilith so that it can be moved from place to place,[1][2] using a rare form of inter-dimensional travel used by demons,[2] utilizing ley line grids. According to Magnus Bane, "because of the apartment's size and power, there are only a handful of habitable regions with grid junctions large enough to support it."[3] Whenever the apartment moves, there is a significant drop in air pressure in the surrounding area where the apartment left.[2]
Its exterior can also be changed to whatever the one in control may desire or what the resident(s) may need to survive in the environment it will move to.
History[]
Lilith first chose an abandoned building as her base, dubbing it the Church of Talto.[4] She placed the apartment on the top floor and later placed Jonathan's body, once nourished with the blood of her disciples, in a casket on the balcony.
When she was tracked down by werewolf and NYPD officer Luke Garroway and the Daylighter Simon Lewis,[5] she moved the suite to the top of a mundane office building, as a means of discouraging the Shadowhunters from attacking her head on if she was to be discovered.[1] She protected the building with wards and redirected ley lines she needed for the ritual to the apartment.

Simon's Mark of Cain banished her back to Edom,[6] but before her death on Earth, she was able to transport the apartment, along with her revived son Jonathan and his sister Clary Fairchild, to the Ural Mountains in Siberia.[2] The transportation was cloaked in the explosion following Lilith's death, leaving only destruction and no trace of the two behind.[6]
In Siberia, though the apartment maintained its interior design, its exterior took on the appearance of an old farmhouse. They stayed there for days while Clary recovered, and Jonathan offered to next take the apartment to Paris for her.[2]
