Dead Man's Party is the third episode of Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments.
Synopsis[]
THE GROUP TAKES AN UNEXPECTED DETOUR INTO THE REALM OF THE UNDEAD: Clary, Jace, Alec and Isabelle must hatch a rescue plan that takes them into the heart of a vampire lair.
With Simon being held captive at the Hotel Dumort, Clary pleads with Jace, Alec and Isabelle to help her rescue her best friend. As the team readies for the mission, Jace helps Clary learn more about her Shadowhunter powers, Isabelle turns to her favorite Seelie for intel, and Alec begins to question Jace's motives and his place in their partnership.
Meanwhile, a very scared Simon gets very up close and personal with Camille, the leader of the vampire clan.
Plot[]
The Shadowhunters identify Simon's kidnappers as part of a clan headed by a certain vampire, Camille Belcourt. Alec wants to wait for approval from the Clave (Shadowhunter authorities), but Clary convinces him, Izzy, and Jace to take immediate action. Izzy consults her Seelie (fairy folk) lover Meliorn for infiltration details while the others stock up from a weapons cache. Alec shares with Jace his feelings of unease towards Clary. Jace teaches Clary how to fight with a Seraph blade and how to resist vampiric enthrallment, and explains that he and Alec are parabatai, which means they share a bond that intertwines their lives and souls on a very intrinsic level.
At her hideout in the Hotel DuMort, Camille places Simon under her thrall but fails to extract the whereabouts of the Mortal Cup from him. Her seond-in-command, Raphael Santiago, questions her decision to defy the Accords (rules set by the Clave) in the face of the threat posed by Valentine Morgenstern. Clary and the Shadowhunters raid Camille's hideout at dawn, dispatching several vampires. Camille grows bored of Simon and intends to kill him, but Raphael convinces her to escape before the Shadowhunters arrive. Instead of killing Simon, Raphael chooses to let him go, leaving Jace with an ominous warning to "remember who [his] friends are".
Unbeknownst to anyone, Camille had fed Simon her blood, priming him for his transformation into a vampire.Credits[]
