The Church of Talto is the name Lilith gave both her cult of mind-controlled followers and her base of operations.

History[]

Upon Lilith's summoning on Earth by his dying son, Lilith prepared for a demonic resurrection ritual to raise him back from the dead. Lilith claimed an abandoned building, chosen for the junction of ley lines below it and thus the magic and energy it could supply her ritual, as her own and dubbed it the Church of Talto.[1] The Church had various rooms, an elevator,[2][3] and one luxurious room on the top floor that Lilith used to meet with her followers aside from the hall on the first floor.[4][5][3]

Lilith had her Owl, using Jace Herondale's body, gather 33 virtuous disciples for her ritual, who would become her loyal and devout followers.

On the first floor of the church, which appeared to be a function hall, were decorations for an event, complete with tables and chairs, plates, glasses, and candles, and musical instruments on the stage. Though she kept the tables, she displaced the instruments with the sacred altar needed for the ritual, with her son Jonathan's body resting underneath.

Upon completion of the blood bestowal of the 33 disciples, Lilith had Jonathan's body moved into a sarcophagus in the suite on the top floor. They were soon found and discovered by werewolf and NYPD Luke Garroway, who looked for them in an effort to save his partner, one of Lilith's gathered disciples Ollie. When Simon Lewis and his Mark of Cain threatened Lilith's safety and plans,[2] she moved the building to the top of a mundane office building, as a means of discouraging the Shadowhunters from attacking her head on if she was to be discovered.[3]

Lilith placed Portal wards around the building, to prevent anyone from being able to Portal into her lair, and this time chose to redirect ley lines she needed for the ritual to the room on the rooftop. On the rooftop, she was finally able to complete the ritual and successfully bound Jonathan to his sister, Clary Fairchild. Simon came and was able to banish her back to Edom through his Mark. Lilith's death on Earth caused a massive explosion that blew up half of her lair, and Jonathan left with Clary, leaving no trace of the two behind.[6]
