Church is cat owned by the non-magic practicing warlock Magnus Bane in the dimension where the culture of the Shadow World technically no longer exists. Magnus seems to hold a small tinge of resentment for the grouchy cat, because while he was affectionate with his other cat Chairman Meow, he was disdainful just at the mention of his name, but he cared enough about the cat that he thought to use an image of it to try and remind Clary of him.
